These codes share a system-level checklist, but their distinct numbers and meanings are shown below. A code here does not prove a particular vehicle has every listed fault. Use the exact code row and full scan.

Save the evidence first

  • Full codes with status and suffix
  • RPM/load/coolant temperature and startup timing
  • Flashing versus steady MIL; vibration and power loss
  • Recent plug, fuel or engine work

Safe owner checks

  • Park safely before using the scanner. Save the scan and freeze frame.
  • When fully stopped and safe, note any obvious loose intake connection without touching moving/hot parts.
  • Check whether a narrowly matching software bulletin exists.

Questions for a qualified technician

  • Do ignition, fuel delivery, air leaks or mechanical compression explain the affected cylinders?
  • Does an exact-engine compression/leak-down or ignition waveform test distinguish the cause?
  • For Ford 25-2293, does recorded ECT meet the documented temperature branch?

Common wrong turns

  • A cylinder code identifies a reported cylinder, not a proven bad coil.
  • Do not swap coils using a generic cylinder-location diagram.
  • Do not reproduce a severe misfire on a test drive.

Confirm the repair

  • Have the shop verify the original operating condition and related codes.
  • A cleared lamp alone is not proof that the cause is repaired.
