Before buying
Neither an OBD connector nor a stored code proves scanner coverage or a failed part. Products remain unranked because no direct testing, current price or exact vehicle fitment has been verified.

A check-engine light may be readable through a generic emissions tool, while an ABS or airbag warning may require confirmed access to a different module. The OBD connector alone says nothing about that software coverage. If you only need to preserve a code and freeze frame, paying for programming functions may add cost without solving your immediate question.
The categories below describe jobs and limitations, not tested products or a best-of ranking. No current price, subscription, direct test or exact-vehicle compatibility has been confirmed in the research data. Use the capability checker and the manufacturer's coverage list before buying.
